Book Review: Kindling by Bonnie Woods

Every once in a while, you start a romcom expecting something light and funny… and then it ends up being so much more. Kindling by Bonnie Woods was that exact kind of surprise ~ heartfelt, charming, a little spicy, and so deeply relatable in the best ways.

This was my very first book by this author, and now I’m officially a fan. The voice, the pacing, the banter, the emotional growth ~ it all blended into such a delightful reading experience, and I flew through it.

Kindling follows a relatable heroine who’s struggling with insecurities, self-doubt, and that feeling of losing yourself a little ~ something so many of us have experienced. Watching her navigate life, push through old wounds, and slowly allow herself to open up again felt honest and real.

And then there’s the MMC…

Swoony. Patient. Charming. And the perfect blend of grumpy-ish exterior with soft-for-HER energy. Their connection builds slowly, naturally, and with a delicious tension that keeps you fully invested.

Set against a cozy Scottish backdrop (yes please ✨), the story balances humor, vulnerability, and chemistry in such a refreshing way. It’s the kind of romcom that makes you laugh, blush, and root for both characters individually and together.
