✨ Book Review: The Elusive Billionaire by Avery Maxwell

Some books pull you in so completely that you forget you’re reading the second book in a series ~ and The Elusive Billionaire did exactly that. From the tension to the banter to the emotional pull between the characters, I genuinely could not stop turning the pages.

This is book two in the series, and I enjoyed it so much that I went and ordered book one before I even finished this one ~ which honestly says everything you need to know.

💭 The Story

Savvy Monroe and Greyson Reyes are the kind of characters who make sparks fly the second they share a page. Their history is complicated, emotional, and layered ~ and when a hurricane traps them together, all of that unresolved tension comes crashing to the surface.

Grey is grumpy, guarded, and emotionally closed off ~ the kind of MMC who believes betrayal is unforgivable and happily-ever-afters aren’t meant for men like him. But what I loved most is that beneath that hard exterior? He is completely soft for Savvy. Protective. Attentive. And slowly undone in the best way.

Savvy, on the other hand, is strong, sassy, and resilient. She doesn’t shrink herself to make Grey comfortable, and I loved watching her stand her ground while still navigating the vulnerability of their shared past. Together, their chemistry is undeniable ~ intense, emotional, and full of sweet and spicy moments.

💛 What I Loved

  • The tension ~ Enemies-to-lovers done right. The longing, the frustration, the sparks? ON POINT.

  • Forced proximity ~ One storm, one bed, and so many feelings bubbling under the surface.

  • The banter ~ Sharp, emotional, and perfectly timed.

  • Greyson ~ A protective, grumpy billionaire MMC who is absolutely gone for the FMC? Yes please.

  • Savvy ~ A strong, sassy heroine who holds her own and doesn’t back down.

  • Small-town energy ~ Gossip, history, and that “everyone knows everything” vibe that adds so much depth.

🌟 The Vibes

This book balances emotional depth with addictive pacing. It’s angsty without being overwhelming, romantic without feeling rushed, and layered in a way that made me care  about what happened next. I loved that this story didn’t rely solely on physical attraction ~ the emotional connection, shared history, and character growth are what truly carried it.

✨ Final Thoughts

The Elusive Billionaire completely delivered. I was invested in the characters, hooked by the tension, and genuinely excited to see how everything unfolded. The banter was sharp, the chemistry was intense, and the emotional payoff was so satisfying.

If you love enemies to lovers, forced proximity, protective MMCs, and strong heroines, this one absolutely deserves a spot on your TBR.
