💜 Book Review: If You Claim Me by Helena Hunting

Every once in a while you pick up a book expecting a fun romcom… and suddenly you’re 10 chapters in, fully invested, and wondering how you’ve gone this long without reading this author. That was me with If You Claim Me.

This was my very first Helena Hunting book, and I truly didn’t realize it was book 5 in a series until I was already halfway through (lol). But honestly? It holds up beautifully as a standalone ~ and now I’m excited to go back and read the first four because I enjoyed this one that much.

💭 The Story

This romance kicks off when an uptight billionaire bad boy makes a deal with a sweet, dedicated librarian… and a marriage of convenience suddenly becomes the most inconvenient situation imaginable.

Our FMC is smart, warm, grounded, and so easy to root for. The MMC is grumpy, broody, and completely thrown off balance by her sunshine energy ~ which, as always, is a dynamic I will never get tired of.

But my favorite part? The found-family element woven throughout the friend group and series. Even starting at book 5, I felt welcomed into their world, the banter, and all the chaotic support they bring to each other’s lives.

💜 What I Loved

The trope ~ ALL of them. Opposites attract, marriage of convenience, hockey romance, billionaire bad boy, fake relationship, grumpy/sunshine… and somehow it all worked.
The chemistry. Their dynamic felt warm, flirty, and believable. The tension was A+.
The heroine. A librarian FMC with heart, strength, and softness? Yes please.
The MMC. Billionaire + bad boy vibes but secretly soft where it counts.
The found family. Even jumping in at book 5, the friendships were one of the best parts.
The writing. Engaging, fun, and super binge-able ~ I flew through it.

🌟 The Vibes

This is one of those romances that hits the perfect middle ground between emotional and fun. It has humor, swooniness, character growth, and a storyline that’s addictive in the best way.

✨ Final Thoughts

If You Claim Me was such a delightful surprise and officially made me a Helena Hunting fan. Even reading it out of order didn’t take away from the story ~ it only made me want more.

A warm, trope-packed, found-family romance with banter, chemistry, and heart? Yes. Absolutely yes.
